Tiburon Managing Partner Chip Roame

Mr. Roame is frequently sought as a board member by Tiburon members. He presently serves on the following nine boards:

  • Edelman Financial Engines: Independent board member of this Hellman & Friedman and Warburg Pincus investment (also independent board member under prior ownership of both Lee Equity Partners and Sanders Morris Harris Group). One of largest fee-based financial advisors (RIAs), with approximately 1.4 million accounts and $290 billion AUM.
  • Facet Wealth (DBA Facet): Independent board member of this Warburg Pincus, Durable Capital Partners, Multiplier Capital, and Slow Ventures investment. First outside board member, having joined before series A capital raise. Now raised $200 million through Series D and serving 15,000+ clients with CFP-led virtual financial planning offering billed on a subscription fee basis. Chairman of compensation & talent committee.
  • Apex Fintech Solutions: Independent board member of this $150 billion AUA technology-oriented custody & clearing broker backed by Peak6 Group. First outside board member, having joined board when firm filed S1 offering document. Led special committee to approve the equity tender offer in relation to the minority share acquisition by State Street Corporation in 2025.
  • Allspring Group Holdings (DBA Allspring Global Investments) (FKA Wells Fargo Asset Management): Independent board member of this approximately $500 billion AUM spin-off of Wells Fargo Asset Management from Wells Fargo & Company backed by private equity firms GTCR & Reverence Capital Partners. Joined board immediately upon closing, having participated in transaction due diligence process on behalf of GTCR. Member of audit & risk committee.
  • Foundation Source Philanthropic Services (DBA Foundation Source): Independent board member of this leading provider of SaaS-based foundation management services (and related services) backed by GTCR. Joined board immediately upon closing, having participated in transaction due diligence process on behalf of GTCR.
  • DPL Financial Partners: Independent board member of this no-load annuities & insurance marketplace, backed by $69 million through Series D from Eldridge Industries, Atlas Merchant Bank, EOS Ventures, TIAA Ventures, & other investors. Second independent board member, having joined the board after Series B capital raise. Chairman of the compensation committee.
  • Vise Technologies: Independent board member of this technology-driven personal portfolios investment management firm, backed by $128 million from Sequoia Capital, Ribbit Capital, Bling Capital, Founders Fund, and other investors. Second independent board member, having joined after Series C capital raise.
  • Halo Investing (Advisory Board): Independent advisory board member of this structured products marketplace, backed by $115 million from Koch Industries, Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners, and other investors.
  • SA Funds: Independent board member of this 1940 Act mutual fund complex sponsored by Focus Financial Partners' portfolio company Focus Partners Advisor Solutions and leveraging Dimensional Fund Advisors as its sole sub-advisor. Chairman of nominating & governance committee. Member of audit committee.

Mr. Roame was also previously the vice chairman of Envestnet (previously NYSE: ENV), from its initial public offering (IPO) in 2011 until 2020, where he served as chairman of the strategy and nominating & governance committees, and as a member of the audit and information technology committees. Envestnet was acquired by Bain Capital in 2024. Mr. Roame was also a founding board member of Lefteris Acquisition Corporation, a $200 million special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). He was also an independent advisory board member of SoraFinance, a financial advisor-oriented debt management platform, backed by $4 million from New Era Capital Partners, Peterson Ventures, and other investors, which was acquired by Flourish (Mass Mutual Financial Group) in 2025. He was also an independent advisory board member of Paanini (DBA Jiffy.ai), a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) firm, backed by $71 million from Eight Roads Ventures, Reaction Fund, Rebright Partners, and other investors. Mr. Roame was also a board member of Prima Capital Group from 2000-to-2002, which was acquired by Envestnet in 2012, and a board member of the Institute for Certified Investment Management Consultants (ICIMC) from 2000-2002, which was merged into the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) (DBA Investments & Wealth Institute).

Mr. Roame's interests going forward are primarily to serve on larger public & private company boards. He enjoys working with private equity firms, including participating in transaction due diligence processes, having had experience with firms such as Hellman & Friedman and GTCR. He enjoys working with venture capital & private equity backed firms ready to go public, having had experience with Envestnet & Apex Fintech Solutions. He would like to find the right opportunities in growing areas such as exchange traded funds (ETFs), personalized (direct) indexing, managed accounts & managed account programs, private markets, cryptocurrencies (digital assets), alternative investments platforms, values-based investing (sustainable investing (ESG)), financial, tax, & estate planning, annuities & life insurance, discount & online brokerage, robo advisors & hybrid digital advice providers, financial advisor recruiting & break-away brokers, the independent advisor markets, wealth & investment management marketing & LeadGen strategies, wealth & investment management technology & outsourcing strategies (including turnkey asset management programs (TAMPs)), and financial advisor aggregators. And he enjoys working with mission-driven public companies, having enjoyed experiences at The Charles Schwab Corporation & Facet Wealth (DBA Facet). He would also now consider serving on boards in Europe and/or Australia where he and his family spend approximately half of their time.

    Tiburon Research & Publishing Director Paul Howard

    Mr. Howard serves as Tiburon's Research & Publishing Director and Chief of Staff and is an experienced financial services industry executive with more than twenty five years experience, including as director of European institutional equity sales for a number of Europe's leading brokerage firms.

    Mr. Howard's interests going forward are to primarily serve on emerging private company boards. He enjoys working with WealthTech firms seeking to expand their relationships and commercialize their products into the wealth management community.
