Venture Capital & Private Equity Firms

There is a handful of venture capital & private equity firms that invest regularly in, or even have funds dedicated to, the financial services industry. Many of these firms have come to Tiburon for assistance in evaluating investment opportunities. For instance, Tiburon has recently provided support for Bain Capital, Capital Z Capital Management, Edison Venture Fund, FT Ventures, General Atlantic Partners, GTCR Golden Rauner, Hellman & Friedman, and Lovell Minnick Partners. Popular investment areas have included online investment advice, online research tools, access to separate accounts, access to alternative investments, aggregation, and portfolio reporting.

    Investment Banks

A growing number of investment banks have been contacting Tiburon for assistance. Tiburon certainly doesn't hold itself out as investment bankers but believes that its industry knowledge can help investment bankers help their clients with capital raising and mergers & acquisitions transactions. Tiburon has recently provided support for Berkshire Capital Securities, the McLean Group, and Business Transitions.

    Law Firms

Many law firms have reached out to access Tiburon's depth of industry knowledge for corporate or litigation matters in the brokerage and investments industry. Tiburon recently provided support for both DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary and Ziffren, Brittenham, Et. Al.

    Other Consulting Firms

Numerous other broader-based consulting firms have engaged Tiburon to assist in projects for their clients in the areas of brokerage & investment management. For instance, Tiburon has been engaged by McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Acartha Group, Capital Markets Consultants, CEG Worldwide, Client Wise, Crittenden Advertising, DAK Associates, Financial Services Resource, Focus Point Solutions, Harpeth Partners, Harris Interactive, Market Metrics, Moss Adams, Novantas, Optima Group, Orbis Marketing, Paragon Resources, Pinnacle Partners, Rogers Casey, Russell Reynolds Associates, Summerville Advisors, Techna, and Turning Point.

    Institutional Investors

Although Tiburon doesn't hold itself out as investment consultants (a field quite different than management consulting), the firm has been engaged by a few institutional investors to help them in understanding market opportunities in complicated markets such as hedge funds.

    Independent & Captive Advisors

Tiburon's services are primarily positioned for financial institutions. However, since many of its research projects have been focused on assisting financial institutions in understanding the various financial intermediary channels, the firm has come to have a thorough understanding of best practices of many types of financial advisors. Many of these advisors have purchased Tiburon's research reports, had the firm in to conduct market seminars on building a great business, or asked Tiburon to interview their clients to obtain custom feedback.
