CEOs-in-Residence

Tiburon recognizes that it is engaged by its clients because of its unique combination of industry knowledge, research capabilities, consulting skills, and industry experience. The firm has its industry knowledge committed to paper in tens-of-thousands of presentation pages. Its research capabilities are exemplified by both its financial advisor benchmarking tools and the dozens of custom research projects that the firm completes each year. And its consulting skills were developed through prior experiences at leading firms such as McKinsey & Company and subsequently refined to apply specifically to Tiburon's financial services industry clients. That all said, the firm requires all principals to have had extensive executive-level industry experience because the firm believes that this experience is critical to making real-world business decisions. For instance, prior to starting Tiburon and after serving as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, Tiburon's Managing Principal Chip Roame was the Vice President of Business Strategy at The Charles Schwab Corporation.

Tiburon CEOs-in-Residence Program Objectives

In order to enhance the amount of industry experience Tiburon can bring to client projects even beyond that of the firm's principals, Tiburon plans to establish a CEOs-in-Residence program in 2008-2009. The members of this program will be retired or semi-retired CEOs from throughout the brokerage and investments industry who seek to continue to have some involvement in the industry. Often times these executives will have been Tiburon clients and they will be very familiar with Tiburon's research capabilities and strategy consulting skills.

Tiburon's "CEOs" will have access to all Tiburon research and research staff, and will be able to be included in, or even lead, any Tiburon project. Some of the CEOs-in-Residence will spend full-time working with Tiburon clients. Others may serve on boards of directors or pursue outside interests. They will be common in their ability to add real-life value to Tiburon clients due to their industry experience at senior levels.

Tiburon CEOs will be able to play many valuable roles; for instance, Tiburon will be able to include the CEOs in Tiburon market seminars, and CEOs will be able to make conference presentations utilizing Tiburon research. The CEOs will also be able to be included in any ongoing Tiburon project and some CEOs will be available for one-on-one executive counseling for senior industry executives.

All Tiburon CEOs will be eligible to attend the firm's semi-annual Tiburon CEO Summits where Tiburon research is presented and discussed with Tiburon clients. Tiburon CEOs will play an important role in these meetings.
