Tiburon November Research Report Releases

Tiburon is pleased to announce its November research report releases, which include eleven new, updated, and/or revised research reports, bringing Tiburon’s research report library to 47 increasingly comprehensive reports across an increasingly wide set of product & market areas. Three of the best reports are those that address current events, the rapidly growing separately managed accounts market, and estate planning & charitable giving. The financial advisor technology report also offers good frameworks and an interesting discussion on outsourcing. Tiburon also took steps to refine several other Tiburon reports, including its reports on Online Tools & Advice, Online Brokerage, Online Banking & Mortgages, Online Insurance, Upscale Channels, Financial Advisor Business Plans & Networking, & Financial Advisor Profiles; all of these reports provide various levels of detail and all will be pushed towards comprehensiveness next year. Below are summaries of the three most comprehensive reports in this cycle:

Current Events:
Making Sense of the Impacts
of Today's Market Events

The purpose of this report is to provide readers with an initial overview of current events and their impact on the financial services industry and specific financial services firms. The report addresses world political events, world disasters, the economy & stock market, corporate scandals, financial services industry stumbles, the recent presidential & congressional elections, and the regulatory environment. This is Tiburon's first draft of this report. Because of the timing, this draft includes substantial details about the credit crisis and 2008 presidential & congressional elections.

Separately Managed Accounts &
Other Fee-Account Programs:
Recasting a Growing Industry

The purpose of this report is to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the packaged fee-accounts market. This report should serve as a bible for any existing or new participant in the separately managed accounts or other fee-account programs market. No individual trend is as profound as the shift away from commission brokerage towards the eight types of fee-account programs: fee-based brokerage accounts, broker wrap accounts, mutual fund wrap accounts, annuity wrap accounts, ETF wrap accounts, multiple style portfolios, separately managed accounts, & unified managed accounts. This comprehensive report includes statistics on the leading players, details of each market segment, highlights of innovations in the four components of fee-accounts, & predictions for the future. This is Tiburon’s fifth draft of this report; at this point, it is fairly well developed.

An Initial Overview of Estate Planning & Charitable Giving Through
Life Insurance & Trust Accounts

The purpose of this report is to provide readers with an initial overview of the growing consumer demand for estate planning & charitable giving services, often delivered utilizing life insurance & trust accounts. This report addresses the aging baby boomer population and their increased focus on both broader wealth management services and specifically estate planning & charitable giving issues. This is Tiburon’s second draft of this report.

Other Tiburon November Research Report Releases Include:

Coming in January

For January, Tiburon is working hard on a few initiatives:

  • To publish a report discussing the challenges in the current venture capital & private equity market
  • To substantially refine its fee-based financial advisors & independent reps reports
  • To further the profiles of some core Tiburon clients which are included in reports
  • To publish six-to-eight initial drafts of new reports

An Overview of Tiburon Research

Tiburon’s research report writing strategy is to build a family of 100+ research reports covering every substantial financial services industry market segment so that the reports can then serve as a comprehensive library of financial services industry data, analysis, & opinions for Tiburon clients. Presently, we are on a cycle to release new reports every sixty days and will release more reports on (or near) January 1, so stay tuned! Tiburon aims to have its initially designed comprehensive library built within about twelve-to-eighteen months, at which time we will continuously refine those reports and expand into new areas as suggested by research report access program subscribers.
