Planned Staff Expansion Efforts

Having recently added a total of eight new research and marketing managers, Tiburon is moving into the next phase of its expansion plan and is seeking to add principals who can assist the firm's managing principal in handling the current backlog of work and further developing of client relationships. Potential principals will bring both management consulting and financial services industry experience. Because of its model, few mid-level opportunities exist at Tiburon.

In the background, the firm will continue to consider new research and marketing managers. Qualified candidates will have a few years of business experience and either a research and/or a marketing aptitude. Tiburon feels that it has developed unique processes to develop motivated research and marketing-oriented young professionals into quotable industry experts, leading-edge consultants, and successful business executives:

Descriptions of current opportunities are listed below. Each role at Tiburon has specific requirements and responsibilities:

  • Principal candidates must have prior management consulting experience; industry knowledge is important but not enough to succeed in Tiburon's business model. Specifically, Tiburon expects that successful principal candidates will likely be coming from top-tier management consulting firms with four-to-six years of experience. The firm is just gearing up to consider such additions.
  • Research manager candidates should enjoy research and be seeking to build a set of specific knowledge areas, allowing Tiburon to position them as experts in the business; they should recognize that they will need to invest time to develop their knowledge bases and develop industry followings which are essential to more senior levels of success and consulting roles. Tiburon has invested in the processes to make this happen but it will take individual initiative to execute. Tiburon has recently added six new research managers and will consider additional candidates opportunistically.
  • Marketing manager candidates need to be able to run with a series of tasks and extract Tiburon's value in the marketplace. Specifically, the firm has designed marketing manager jobs around activities that have proven successful in the past six years; full-time execution of these activities is expected to lead to profitable results. Tiburon has recently added two new marketing managers and will consider additional candidates opportunistically.
  • Other senior industry executives may be interested in Tiburon's CEOs-in-Residence or Consulting Fellows programs. The CEOs-in-Residence program is for retired CEOs from throughout the industry who want to stay actively involved in some capacity. The Consultant Fellows program is for executives who have set up consulting businesses in complementary capacities to Tiburon's services.
